Lil' Yogi Classes
Lil ' Yogi classes are taught to two age groups- ages 4-7 & ages 8-12. All classes begin with breath work (the hoberman sphere 'breathing ball' is a favourite) and end with a period of relaxation and reflection. These aspects of the class are crucial to teaching kids how to use their breath to calm their bodies and minds. Our introductory breathing activity also includes a sharing circle in which we focus on an aspect of mindfulness (for example, sharing about a person that we love or a time that we felt proud of ourselves). This activity builds community amongst the group while also building in a period of self-reflection. Each class also includes the sun salutation sequence, which we often practice with music (kids love to sing the Yogi Pokey, written by Shana Meyerson!). The mid-portion of the class is centred around a theme and incorporates a variety of yoga activities using music, literature, props, partner activities, and group games.
I am also available for private sessions in your home. For example, I can come and work one-on-one with your child or if you and some friends would like to share costs, I will teach up to 6 children in your home on your own schedule!! This is a great way for children to have fun and be active together, especially during the summer months!
